Q: I wish
to place my 6'x9' Jensen speakers in my rear panel...I want to place them
in the center. Is that I good idea or not?
A: Simple
answer: not really.
Depending on our year, these speakers should fit. with a little bit of
effort. The rear deck is relatively flat. In my car, the cut
out size is 6.5". Placing the 6 x 9 speakers in the middle of
the rear deck will develop good bass but poor imaging. Not to
mention you will definitely have to hack the rear deck to accomplish
this. If you want to put 6 x 9s go ahead. just place them near
the factory location and you should be fine.
Q:
I wanted to know if you had any idea on how to trick the SVC system on the
stereo of my 2002 Maxima to get a higher volume level.
A:
Simple answer: No. If you could it would have little effect or make things
worse.
The SVC system or the "Speed-sensitive Volume Control" is a
system that adjusts the level of the stereo dependent on the speed of the
vehicle. The reason this circuit is developed at all is to overcome
the the road noise of the vehicle that increases as the speed
increases. I went to Nissan's site http://www.nissandriven.com
to see if they have any information about this feature but
alas.....nada.
There
are two ways this circuit can work. Mercedes uses a predefined map
that adjusts the whole spectral balance (frequency response) of the stereo
to compensate for the increased noise floor that have with each specific
vehicle. Very cool. Very expensive. I bet that Nissan
uses a simple speed reference that changes the volume setting either
by...
A:
Compressing the signal (This does not change the transients) which
increase the apparent loudness of the stereo. This is the better
way.
or
by...
B:
Just increasing the output voltage of the head unit.
Either
way, the maximum output potential of the system remains unchanged.
The best way to increase the volume control is just to turn the volume
up. I take it by the question that you wish the stereo could be
louder. The best way to do this is to add amplifiers and or change
or add speakers to your existing system. This is what I would do.
